11/1/2025 - Halloween not-so-woes and some-woes

It's Saturday... you know what that means! It means I blog for a bit. And confidentially, yesterday was Halloween!

I actually had no idea what I was going to be for halloween. This is an issue every year. I cosplay... I wear fun clothes... but halloween... it's hard to figure it out. My favorite karaoke bar has a competition every year, which I've placed in for the past 2 years, but this year I didn't feel like competing as I was getting too concerned with it. Halloween and karaoke is supposed to be about having fun, so this year I felt like I needed to like, take it easy.

But then came the costume... oh god what was I going to be?! I have so many cosplays but I didn't feel like they'd make sense for halloween. In a way, since I dress up a lot for funsies already, but there still was a weird pressure in the back of my head... even though there wasn't. If that makes sense. I am very harsh on myself and constantly strive for improvement, so I was just... very mad. But also I wanted to be comfy.

Also for the first year I had too many options on what do to do which I think lead to some fomo today... should I have bar hopped? Party hopped? By October 30th I decided I'd just wear a Pokemon Kigurumi.

But then... I said fuck it... let's go to Savers and see if I can get anything to make Felicity Shagwell. Why Felicity? It's been in the back of my head, and I figured let's do a fun halloween version for now. Sadly, no jumpsuits at the 3 Savers I went to LOL. I ended up getting a denim shirt and some jeans which I cut into shorts, along with a belt with a gold buckle. There was a michaels next door so I squinted at the pictures on my phone to figure out colors, and also found some felt pink butterflies... bless.

So October 30th Crafting:

I ended up pulling out the sewing machine to bring in the waist on this shirt dress thing and made it too tight. Like I had to rip the shirt at the sides a bit and like squeeze my chest through it to get it on. I was already feeling defeat but after I got it on... I was like... ok I can do this. This is still happening.

I also took the butterflies and painted on a totally not accurate orange detailing, and let that dry over night to attach to my old Byleth boots (will probably try to salvage these to re-wear next time I decide to be Byleth. Then the last item for the night was the belt.

I ended up buying a tan belt, and for some reason thought I could posca paint on the belt but that was proving very unhelpful early on, so I was like... welp... what do I do... and then I was digging through the craft room and found dark blue leather paint. Now why do I own dark blue leather paint? Why did I buy it? I honestly don't remember. I remember using it for Rhea last minute to fix an ironing issue but I cannot remember for the life of me why I initially bought it. But it saved me a lot of time. After it dried down, I glued down these fun little ribbons, and retired for the night.

The last step was to glue on the zipper (which was not accurate) and trim on the shirt, and then glue the butterflies on the boots. For a 24 hour costume project... not bad.

There was also the wig, which I originally cut up an old lacefront I had sitting around but realized I cut it waay to short, so I took an old wig and just steamed the bangs back. There was not enough time to make the hair like super perfect but that's ok.

Overall, the costume was comfy, and slowly fell apart during the night but ... it was Halloween... who cares. I did not see a single Austin Powers. I heard there was one and was devastated I missed them.

My Halloween was just at the local karaoke spot! I think I made the mistake of going out too early and I really should've taken a nap. I never let myself take a nap and force myself to go early... but in the future... naps. Naps are important.

I did feel a bit of fomo for not bar hopping... but I know myself... I really can't!! I'm getting old!!! LOL!! I yearn for the party life sometimes but I have never been built for it. It can stink sometimes, but I have to remember I had fun overall! :) I did get overstimulated at the end but that's halloween for you I guess... LOL!

I do want to try to seriously make this costume for the future....... yes...

1/6 - Florals in winter?!

Hi everyone!! Happy Monday!! I am supposed to be going to bingo right now, but I actually caught something at the sunday bingo event so I am sick again... 😓I've been getting sick a lot this winter, and it's not fun. I definitely have not been dressing the best for winter this year, so that's probably why I keep getting sick!!

Which is kind of funny about today's post!! I definitely did not dress for winter for Sunday Bingo! To my defense, we weren't outside for very long (just walking to and from the car). This is going to be a bit more of a detailed thought process into this co*de from start to finish, but first, I'll share pictures of the outfit!!

Gyaru DIY - New Coat

Happy Sunday everyone! 😀

Winter officially begins in less than a week!! But here in Rhode Island, it's been suuuuper cold. Being a mostly agejo gal, I've taken the challenge of finding some cute new winter code ideas! I initially was just looking at coats online as well as stopping at the Savers in Attleboro and almost walking away with a coat (but then I saw the leather peeling 😓😓), however, I decided to take a look through one of my Koakuma Ageha magazines for inspiration, and here's what I snapped pics of!

This lead me down the idea of using coats as dresses or as tops! Especially Himena's look with the skirt and the belt... ugh it's so cute. I think eventually I will still try to get my hands on a MA*RS coat, but with current finances, it made sense to try the thrift store and do a little modifying!

Which leads to: the DIY of the coat! I thrifted a simple black coat for about 17ish dollars. I tried it on in the store and liked the initial fit, and there sadly wasn't much color when it came to the coat selection... New England loves their neutrals, especially black, but in a way, having a basic black coat is good since it'll work with a lot of my outfits!

I went ahead and used some Dill buttons I had picked up at the Franklin Mill store in Franklin MA! I actually picked these up for a different project, but I figured they would work. I will say, they're a bit small, so I may purchase larger buttons in the future and harvest these buttons for other projects.

Overall, I was really happy with how it came out! After I put it on to try out coordinating it a bit, I realized it is a little big longer than Himena's, and also a bit bulky on me. Even with adding in my chain belt (also a DIY!) it felt like I needed to get one of those clothing cincher things.

Either way, here were my first two attempts to coordinate it.

Image on your left was just me slapping things on. I got these boots at the thrift today but they're an awkward length and might need some extra coordinating to make work, but they are pink!! Not my fave, would not wear out. a 2/10.

Image on your right was me thinking "hm, do I have a skirt I could make this work with." and I did! This is the MA*RS Yuki replica skirt, and I used the two scrunchie things I bought as leg garters right on the top of my black books (finally. something to use them for because they're a bit awkward to work with) I think I might develop this look a bit more for a code out, and def will be playing around with my other skirts too!

Overall, for 17 bucks (and then like 6 for all the buttons i bought), not a bad first coat! I think even if I don't close it i'll wear it out. I may consider taking it to a Tailor to shorten it a bit/have it brought in more. I would try to add fur, but god... I don't know if I'm ready for fake fur all over my room... I have real fur from my puppy!!

Anyways, that's all for this blog!!! Have a great day everyone!!

Gyaru DIY - Pink Floral Setup!

I know I just did the intro post but I do want to ramble about what I did today, which was complete one of my many DIY projects! I want to talk about it from idea to fruition!

For some general info, I am an absolute fan of setups. If it's a matching top and skirt, then that's one less thing I worry about when coordinating an outfit. If I see a decent listing during my online shopping that is only half a setup, I'm less likely to want to purchase it.

At some point late in November, I was doing my annual time to look through all my clothes and see what I don't need, and I had noticed this floral tank in my drawer. I originally picked this up at the thrift store earlier this year for less than 10 dollars.

I had worn it a few times on its own, but I had the thought of, "Hm, this could be turned into a skirt, huh?" And with that, I went to eBay to find another version of this top. I ended up paying 21 dollars in total for the new top including shipping, and it came with no flaws! I did end up buying a larger size as I planned on making it have an elastic waist band. For sizing info, my top is a size 6, while my skirt was made out of a top that was a size 12.

This top was a bit confusing to deconstruct at first. There's a zipper on the side I had to remove with my seam ripper, which I had to seam rip both layers of the garment off the zipper. After that, I had to carefully (but not really) cut off the portion of the tank I was going to use for the skirt for both the inner and outer layer. I basically tried cutting an inch above the bust line that existed on both layers.

After that, I had to resew one side of both layers (that were no longer connected via zipper). Then I went ahead and sewed both layers together at the top. The elastic band was basically some stretchy fabric I had as scrap from a leftover seam rip project. I'll be honest, when I put the elastic band on, the top ruffle got stuck in there, but the upper tank covers the issue so I really don't care to fix it LOL!

Aaaaaand with that, the setup was all done! I didn't touch the top tanktop at all lol.

I think for a DIY project from someone who isn't the best at a sewing machine, this came out really cute! I do definitely need to wear shorts underneath for this one, but I do for even my ma*rs setups. This one is just a smiiidge transparent if you look close enough.

I think the matching setup is just supreme. Two pieces made to go with each other... it's beautiful. I think if you have access to a sewing machine, DIY is so fun. I've been seeing lots of other gals with their DIYs which is sooo cool!

I have two more DIY projects I hope to either work on in 2025 or earlier, but I'm also competing with the fact I should be working on a cosplay right now lol... Anyways, enjoy your Sunday! :D
