3/3 - I am an idiot when it comes to depop (good ending)

This feels like... important to make public because 1) important to cover my ass in the case this seller makes a callout (i doubt it) and 2) to talk about lessons learned from depop because I can be stupid and too nice! I'm not going to bring up the sellers name bc 1) the shop no longer exists, and 2) I don't want to send them any hate, something could've happened who knows.

The TLDR: Brenna was way to patient when it comes to depop and almost lost a lot of money over my DREAM DREAM DREAM DISO. But I got my money back.

The more detailed version...

I was trying to find my dream piece on a whim for christmas, as I usually spend a stupid amount on dream pieces (the pink and white alba rosa was my 2023 xmas gift to myself). Well, I found someone selling it on depop, and I made a depop account!! I actually am herabibi on there. Yes, that is me. I reached out to the seller, I purchased the piece, and I waited for my shipping e-mail.

Well, I got it from depop saying it shipped but there was no tracking number, I figured maybe because I was purchasing from a seller in europe (based on the face I paid in euros) that it might not have one. That's wrong I've learned you need to be bitchy for a tracking number. You actually are supposed to get one in 5 days, and if you don't, go put in a ticket.

Then it just... was a waiting game. It never came, and I checked the sellers page to see if there were new reviews because they were selling things and they had positive reviews. Then, life happened last month and I totally forgot to check, come to today and I think, hm, what happened? The seller's page didn't exist anymore. Not like I was blocked, I went on my work computer and checked and yep, it was gone.

So I was like... can I get a refund? To which I tried on the app and the app was like "well, if it's more than 30 days and you used the depop payment, you can't.". So I decided to ... put in a ticket!

And let me tell you, I put in tickets for our work vendors and they respond pretty fast, 24-48 hours. Elle from depop got back to me in like... 5 minutes. I was lucky because the seller never provided depop the tracking number, I was still under buyer protection. Elle let me know that in the future, I need to put in a ticket after 5 days. (I totally did admit in the e-mail I was too patient...). So the great news is: I get a refund (but since it was international not a full refund... but I only lost out on 30 bucks.

So chat... what did Brenna learn from this?

  1. You are supposed to get a tracking number.
  2. You need to be ok with being pushy to get the tracking number
  3. If you use depop pay you should not be patient and wait a bajillion months. (I bought this at the end of Nov... it is March lol)
  4. Depop has probably the fastest response time I've ever seen... amazing.
This also shows that we can all be dumb. I can be dumb! I'm so used to ebay... mercari jp... xianyu... that i'm surprised it was depop I was stupid on. But, I can't beat myself up over it.

And when it comes to the dream dream dream diso... maybe that just means i'll find it somewhere else from a legit seller. Preferrably... a decent price (a girl can dream if anyone on mercari jp tries to sell it they're gonna list it for 80000000000000000000 yen at this point).
