6/28 - hey chat so clothing production quality seems worse and that scares me

 Hey chat this is just me typing up thoughts after watching  the d.i.a rerelease in real time and seeing so many gals just disappointed.

It all circles back to the shein argument and gals saying “well gals brands were fast fashion” which… yes

However I always thought in the back of my head “well yes. But it feels like clothing has gotten shittier.” It was something I noticed while shopping at malls, were paying a ridiculous amount for not so great quality. It’s why I moved to buying almost good chunk of my clothing secondhand and being more critical when buying new clothes.

And I feel like the recent discussions about d.i.a has really brought that point into the light. I’ve just seen so many gals discuss how the newer belts just aren’t like the old ones, how the clothing feels cheaper, etc. I just feel like this is… a norm amongst ALL brands, but this is a gal brand that has come back and proven it. I will say there is a lot of cute stuff and not all of it is bad, but there is a notice of lower quality.

Which … in capitalism that’s just a thing I get it, cost margins… profit … yadda yadda. I just kind of wonder why as a society we’ve become OK with that. Should we not strive for high quality items? Forcing brands to bring out good quality items instead of us all buying cheaper items and having to replace it much faster? It’s just something in the back of my brain.

I hope more brands take quality into factor in the future. I know Mariposa Rosa has been discussing how their clothing will be made with 0 polyester and I think that is a good step in the right direction. Of course a lot of discussion is the price of things… but that could be a whole other discussion that fast fashion and cheap products has secretly brainwashed us all to think everything should be cheap so we all can access it. It’s a very complicated topic I need to look into more before I go off on a tangent.

6/27 - Lenses, lenses, lenses

 Another day another blog!! I wanted to talk a lot about how I’ve been feeling about lenses since it’s been something I’ve heavily been playing with. To think I had pushing it off for so long…

As I’ve yapped about, I got three pairs of lenses from pinkyparadise, all three were yearly lenses, and the color of the lenses were quite opaque, so even with blue eyes you could tell I was wearing lenses. Though, it felt a bit unnatural. I think the lenses fit cosplay more which are meant to be more…. Uncanny? I actually had gotten two of the pairs for specifically cosplays.

I think my most favorite were the green ones… which sadly dried out because the Sanrio lens case I bought was faulty and the eye solution leaked out and the contacts dried out. The red ones are ok, and the pink are very very intense. With the red, you can still see the blue in my eyes, but the other two it wasn’t super big.

And then, I got some suggestions for loveil! It’s a lens brand by Kumi Koda I picked up the 2 15mm lens(honey trick and black bijou), as well as the mermaid aqua which is 14.4mm

With the brown of the honey trick, it just gives me a like gray vibe with a large limbal ring. The black bijou doesn’t give the gray vibe, but still has the huge limbal ring. My eyes look HUGE.

Even the 14.4m lens made my eyes look larger, but it felt more natural, especially as the lens blended in with my blue, but with just enough limbal ring it gives it a nice look. 

I do have a bunch more to try (and more ordered and otw). I definitely am hoping to find a few I really like and making it a staple. It is fun to have multiple colors, but at the same time, it’s fun to find a signature look!! 

I also really like daily lenses, they’re much more comfy than yearly lenses. I know it’s much more expensive, but as I stop building my closet as I’m satisfied with it, I can invest in other parts of my gal wardrobe.

6/18 - I have disappeared for awhile

 Hey chat… I know I don’t have to post a “where did u go!!” Type of thing. this past month has been kind of wild. It might feel good to just type it all out for the few who read.

The simple answer is depression. It’s not a clinical diagnosis but there’s been a lot of life events happening that started in early May that threw me for a loop. It caused me to do a lot of thinking about my life.

I won’t go into the nitty gritty details of what happened and who did what (none of this is gyaru or gyaru comm related btw… yall been so sweet). But I have just… been thinking on ways to improve life but also to appreciate the life I have as it is pretty great.

Social media is really good at convincing you that your life sucks and you should always chase for better, but really a lot of us including me have some great lives. I am so thankful to have a roof over my head, family and friends who love me, a steady income, and to be alive.

There are some things I am contemplating changing. Some are passion related, a lot of are health related, some finance related… lots to do.

I have been wearing my codes, not as much as usual. It’s still fun to get dressed up and go out, but due to some health issues, I’ve been slacking. I really hope the second half of 2025 I can pick myself up again like I did last year and keep pushing. I am going to do my best.

For now… waiting on a phone call to see where I go to get bloodwork done today 🙂‍↕️. Already got my chipped tooth fixed.
